Artificial Intelligence (AI)
How we use AI at Bleak Hill Primary School
What is generative AI and why do we use it?
Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a type of technology that can create content such as text, images, or ideas based on the information it has learned. At Bleak Hill Primary School, we use AI to support our pupils, staff, and leaders by making learning more personalised, helping teachers plan lessons more efficiently, and assisting leaders with managing school activities. This technology can help save time and improve the quality of education when used responsibly.
We are committed to using AI in a safe, ethical, and responsible way that protects everyone’s privacy and supports our school community’s values.
How we evaluate AI tools
Before using any AI tool, we carefully evaluate it to ensure it is safe, secure, and suitable for the specific purpose we intend. This means we check the tool’s privacy policies, data security, and the way it works to make sure it benefits our school without putting anyone’s information or wellbeing at risk.
AI tools we currently use and how they help
SLTAI: This tool supports teaching assistants by providing tailored suggestions and resources to help children with their learning. It helps staff to better meet individual children’s needs and improve learning outcomes.
Teach Mate: Teach Mate assists teachers in planning lessons and managing classroom activities more efficiently. This allows teachers to focus more on teaching and engaging with children, enhancing the overall learning experience.
These tools have been carefully chosen because they provide clear educational benefits and are aligned with our school’s commitment to safe and responsible AI use.
What AI is not used for at Bleak Hill Primary School
We do not use AI tools to process or store any personal data of children or staff. Protecting personal information is our top priority.
We do not use AI to analyse or generate images of staff or children to ensure everyone’s privacy and dignity are respected.
By avoiding these uses, we ensure AI is a helpful tool rather than a risk to privacy or safety.
