YR6 - Ecolibrium - 2nd November 2017

Lesson: Learning Outside the Classroom

Class: Year 6 Year: 2017 - 2018

Is it really supposed to be this mild in November? What an incredibly calm and peaceful afternoon we had in the school garden today - it was so still, we could actually hear a variety of birds exchanging conversations!

The afternoon started with us investigating what compost is made up of and discussing what it can be used for in the garden. We then rolled our sleeves up and got to work:

  • Planting bulbs and plants in the window boxes
  • Sieving soil to make some compost
  • Building and preparing the fire for snack
  • Gathering bundles of sticks to make a bug habitat
  • Making a bird feeding & water station

We finished the session by eating crumpets from the fire, whilst chatting about our wonderful gardens and exploring the woodland area, outdoor classroom and pond!

What a great way to spend an afternoon!
