School Direct

St Helens One (Bleak Hill) offer an exciting School Direct Programme aimed at recruiting and training high quality, aspiring primary school teachers.

This year, 100% of our trainees achieved Outstanding or Good Grades, with 55% of our trainees achieving an Outstanding Grade. 22% of our trainees were awarded with a Distinction for their PGCE and we are delighted to announce that 100% of our trainees secured teaching posts for September. Over half of the trainees secured jobs within our own alliance schools.

Working in partnership with Liverpool Hope University, we provide our trainees with a strong school-centred postgraduate route into teaching but with the added benefit of studying for a Master's level for a Postgraduate Certificate as well.

We have recruited 8 students to train in September 2017.

Last year, one of our trainees was awarded a Special Award for Excellence on her graduation.

Trainees on our School Direct programme will be allocated a school in our Alliance, all of which are good or outstanding. The majority of time will be spent in a ‘Home’ school with additional teaching in an ‘Away’ school in the Alliance. We also offer opportunities for our trainees to gain experience in Early Years, Special School and Secondary settings.

The taught element of our School Direct programme will be delivered by outstanding trainers from our teaching School partnership, these include: Head Teachers; Senior Leaders; SLEs/LLEs and NLEs; experienced consultants and class teachers. The teaching at Master's Level is delivered by Liverpool Hope.

This is a fabulous route into teaching, with us equipping our trainees with the experience and skills needed to become outstanding teachers.
