Today we hosted our 1st school council meeting of 2017!  The children were all so excited, keen and enthusiastic - it was absolutely fantastic to see. The children chatted about lots of different topics, offered lots of ideas and arranged their 'council folders' in preparation for the next meeting on Friday 13th October 2017 - a woodland walk!

The children really enjoyed thier woodland welly walk today - they got to make lots of notes, ask questions and propose ideas & suggestions in relation to the new outdoor classroom.  It was a wonderful afternoon that resulted in a lot of positive action items.

What a busy and action packed meeting we had today.  The children spent the afternoon doing a variety of jobs in the school garden, with John and Sue from Ecolibrium.  The jobs included:

  • Planting out Allium & Tulip bulbs
  • Weeding the raised beds
  • Transporting flowers around the garden in the wheelbarrow
  • And much more ,,,,,

We spent some time touring the woodland area, visiting the outdoor classroom, learning about different trees / leaves along the way and generating lots of good conversation.

The final part of the day was spent discussing the upcoming Remembrance day - the history of the poppy and taste testing some poppy seed crackers!  Great fun was had by all!
