Level 3 School Games Competitions
Merseyside School Games 2017
Thursday 6th July at the Merseyside School Games Bleak Hill had qualified for the largest number of events in St. Helens. The Bleak Hill Team consisted of the Y3/4 Tennis champions and runners up, the Hockey Champions and the Swimming champions all battling it out with the best schools in Merseyside. In the pool a small team showed incredible team spirit filling in all events enabling Bleak Hill to take points in them all. Even though the pupil’s didn’t find out their overall position they left with big smiles on their faces and really enjoyed their morning and went on to support the rest of the school. Next onto the Hockey pitch which arguably suffered the most challenging conditions through sweltering heat, very limited shade and tiring games. Bleak Hill fought incredibly throughout but fell just short of a bronze medal but this wasn’t through lack of effort and the children were all really proud of their achievement. Finally into the tennis centre where the St. Helens representatives all came from Bleak Hill the children played excellently and both teams supported each other through the entire day. With the day drawing to a close Bleak hill A team were still battling it out in the bronze medal match and came out on top and despite the bus nearly leaving without them they were not going to leave their bronze medals behind. Both teams (and teachers) grabbed their medals sprinted for the bus and made it just in time. I think the sprint to the bus was more than worth it for the A team now bronze medallists. A massive well done to you all you couldn’t have tried any harder!
After finishing 2nd in the level 2 sportshall athletics competition Bleak Hill's Sportshall Athletics Team went on to represent St.Helens in the Merseyside school games finals. Congratulations to the whole team for managing to place within the top 10 schools across all of Merseyside!
