We then rolled up our sleeves and got to task on:

- Clearing the Strawberry beds
- And much more .......

A couple of children made good use of our new outdoor cooking area by making a fresh batch of pumpkin soup - simply, delicious!

At the end of the session, the children were lucky enough to try some homemade french onion soup ........ perfect for an Autumnal afternoon.

Another wonderful session in the Autumn sunshine - such a calm and relaxing afternoon.  This week the children planted seeds, cut back some of the overgrown areas and had a good tidy up.

The 'lite bite' this week was pumpkin soup - simply delicious!!

What a day - sun, rain, sun, rain!  We started the afternoon by having a Q&A session around the topic of harvest. The children then started on a variety of tasks: emptying window boxes, replenishing bark on the pathways, weeding flower beds and potting some plants.

A couple of children followed the 'campfire bread' recipe and prepared some dough for the afternoon snack.  An amazing experience for everybody, as we watched the bread cooking on an open fire - fantastic!

It is safe say that it rained today - my goodness it didn't stop! Lucky for our YR6 children we got to spend a lovely afternoon in the comfort of the polytunnel.  Today the children got to take part in an apple tasting session, then they rolled their sleeves up and got stuck in to a multitude of jobs that needed tackling:

- Planting bulbs
- Trimming the grape vine
- Using Hogweed to make more rooms for the bug hotel
- Turning raised beds over

Another beautiful afternoon of teamwork and fun, whilst learning some new life skills!

An absolutely perfect day in the garden today - mild, still, dry and very relaxing. Today our YR6 children got chance to successfully complete a number of outstanding jobs, as well as going on a guided tour through the woodland area to see the outdoor classroom and pond.

We finished the day by cooking crumpets on a open fire and appreciating the 'great outdoors'!

Aren't we just so lucky that Thursday afternoon apears so quickly on our weekly schedule!  Another super successful day in the garden for our YR6 children today - we spent the afternoon doing a variety of jobs: weeding, planting the tyres out, filling the window boxes at the front of school, touring the woodland area and generating alot of conversation about the various trees we are blessed to have on site.

The day ended with a fabulous Q&A session around the upcoming Remembrance day and as always, we enjoyed a 'lite bite' - poppy seed crackers with a choice of cream cheese, butter or plain!

Simply, fantastic!

Thursday 16th November 2017

Another super productive day in the garden today!  Work has started on the 'bird habitat' - this will enable a variety of birds to visit our garden and possibly build nests.

We explored the gardens in search of: leaves, woodlice, toadstools, flowers, moss and much more.  We then used microscopes to get up close and personal with our findings - allowing us to get even closer to nature.

The day ended with us sipping on a rather splendid homemade 'leek and potato' soup - creating even more wonderful memories of 'life in the school garden' .... Amazing!

Today we welcomed YR3 to the gardens, in order to compliment their current topic of 'rocks & soils'.  The chlidren had the opportunity to get hands-on with different soils, look at them through microscopes and learn all about how soil is made.

We also got chance to look at a variety of rocks & minerals and have some great discussions about what / where / how ..... the children just couldn't believe that we had such old rocks to touch, feel and explore.

We finished the afternoon by snacking on some tasty worms ....... jelly laces to you and I!
