Our Attendance Activists (AA) support the adults in school to look at a child’s perspective on their attendance. We have an adult attendance team whose job it is to improve attendance, but our AAs know what actually needs to be done in order to make them want to come to school and or change mindsets of others around absences and holidays.
The AAs will be consulted by Mrs Aspinall-Wood our Attendance officer, but they will be her eyes and ears on the ground as the AAs will be consulting all other pupils.
Each half term the activist will be on the ground asking the pupils their opinions on things such as, what good attendance is, what can school do to support improvement in attendance and how should children be rewarded for good attendance? Which is in the Activists eyes is “96% AND ABOVE (The above bit is important)”
Thank you to the children for taking on this leadership task, we all need to work together in order to ensure school is the best place to learn for all.
